Homework is set with the aim of helping pupils absorb and build on work done in class and to extend their learning time. It must be assigned effectively to make sure that they are helping students and that assignment do not become tedious extra work for students.
A few tips can help in turning assignment into a constructive and worthwhile exercise for students

- Consider the objective of each homework assignment. Homework should be a review or further practice of what’s learned in class.
- Do not assign new topics and problems as homework.
- Homework should be creative and stimulate students curiosity. Assignment should help communicate students ideas and illustrate their opinions.
- Teachers can draw up a list of assignments and ask each students to select from the list. This way, teachers can recognize students strengths.
- Check, grade, and return homework. Encourage students with questions about their scores to meet with you to discuss their concerns.
